7 October The Tuesday skittles team played their penultimate match of the season winning by 54 –28. Next Tuesday they travel to Wellingborough British Rail Staff Ass. to compete in the KO Cup Final against Rushden Historical Society. 26 September Monday’s Cribbage team travelled to Rushden Athletic Club and came away with a 25-20 victory with Charlie Hartop leading the way with a 5-0 win. 19 September The Monday Cribbage team began their winter season going down 21-24 to Olney WMC with wins from Steve Colley 4-1, and Stan Cave and Gordon Baxter by 3-2. 12 September Stanwick Rovers began their league season with two narrow defeats. The first team going down at home to Bective Wanderers 1-2 and the reserves losing 0-1 away at Brixworth All Saints Reserves. Richard Spencer won the 2008 Harry Sampson Individual Club Cribbage trophy defeating Ray Ash in the final. Tuesday night saw our skittles team win their top of the table clash at Wollaston WMC with wins for John Silvester, Roly Tebbutt, Steve Gonzalez, Richard Cade and Dean Farr. 18 August The Darts team travelled to the Old Friar at Twywell going down by 3-6 with wins in the singles for John Duffy and Terry Andrews and in the pairs for John Duffy and Taffy. On Friday night the skittle team travelled to Woodford to play the semi final of the County Blind Association knock out against Kettering Miniature Rifle. After a close fought contest they went down by just three legs. 4 August A busy night in the Club on Monday with both the skittles and darts team with home fixtures. The darts team went don to the Globe from Raunds by 2-7 and the skittles lost by three legs to Kettering Miniature Rifle Club. 28 July On Monday the skittle team travelled over the border to the Three Compasses, Upper Dean with a depleted team due to illness and holidays. Despite a couple of winners they came back second best. On Tuesday the skittles team were away at Wollaston WMC and were victorious by 47-38 thanks to good wins from Bill Newell, Roly Tebbutt, Richard Cade and John Silvester. 21 July The week began with the Darts team fighting out a close match with The Star, Geddington before going down by 4-5. The Skittles team losing at home to the Hare and Hounds, Great Addington in another close match. Tuesday saw a change in fortunes as the Skittles team built up a 10 leg in their Northampton Blind Association quarter final, first leg. The Pool team entertained the Oakley Arms from Rushden on Wednesday going down 2-7. On Thursday the 4-a-side skittles ‘B’ team progressed to the semi-final of the KO Cup by toppling league leaders Rushden Cons by 2-0. With a one leg lead and the second leg tied at 6 horses each 13 pins were required from the final throw to take the match. Veteran Paul Nicholls weighed in with a 15 to take the match 2-0. Thursday 17 July The Skittles ‘B’ team won 2-1 against the King Edward VII, Rushden. The ‘A’ team travelled to British Rail S&S, Wellingborough going down by 3-0. Wednesday 16 July The Pool team went down 3-6 in their away fixture against the King Edward VII , Rushden. Tuesday 15 July The skittles team travelled to Finedon Old Band, losing narrowly by 45-43. Monday 14 July Congratulations to Debbie Howell who beat all comers to win the Club’s individual Cribbage competition, the Harry Sampson Trophy. Debbie came out on top of the 12 entries beating Ray Ash in the Semi Final and Stan Cave in the Final Monday 30 June The Monday night Darts team played last years league champions from Ise Lodge, Kettering going down by 7-2. Tuesday 24 June The Tuesday skittles team progressed to the Semi-Final of the Knockout Cup by beating Rushden Windmill by 10 legs. Mandy Duffy secured victory with a throw 0f 17. Monday 23 June The Darts team travelled to play The Star at Geddington losing by 8-1. Monday 16 June The Monday night Darts team played their first home game of the summer season going down narrowly to Irthlingborough Band by 5-4 after a closely fought game. Tuesday 10 June The Tuesday skittles team travelled to Wellingborough WMC where they had a resounding win with wins from Roly Tebbutt 7-1, John Silvester 7-1, Steve Gonzalez 7-3 and Dean Farr 7-5. Monday 9 June The Darts team began their summer season with a trip to the Lord Nelson, Stanion going down by 6-3. The skittles team defeated Irchester Sports 38-36 in the first of two encounters this week. Thursday 5 June Mixed fortunes for the two skittles team in the KO Cup with the A team losing 2-0 but the B team progressed to the next round with a 2-0 against White Horse, Tilbrook. Wednesday 4 June The Pool team made the short trip up to the Red Lion, Raunds and came away with a 5-4 win. Monday 2 June The Darts team began their summer season in the KO Cup with an away tie against the league champions from Ise Lodge going down by 9-0. Tuesday 27 May The Tuesday night skittles team played away at the Rushden Station and were victorious by 46-42. Monday 19 May The club hosted the finals night of the Masons Arms Darts league. The Cribbage team were knocked out of the KO Cup in the first round going down to Raunds Town Cricket Club. Thursday 15 May Both Thursday Skittles team won their games. The ‘A’ team continued their good start by beating Islip WMC ‘B’ team at home and the ‘B’ team travelled to The Horseshoe, Wilby edging a close game by 2-1. Monday 12 May The cribbage team completed their season going down by 23-22 in their away game at Rushden Band. Thursday 8 May The Rushden 4-a-side Summer Skittles league commenced. The ‘A’ team, finding themselves in the top division began with a 3-0 victory over British Rails S&S from Wellingborough. The ‘B’ team began their campaign away at King Edward VII, Rushden going down 0-3. Monday 28 April The skittles team lost their home fixture against old rivals Three Compasses, Upper Dean. The cribbage team also went down in their home fixture to Olney WMC by 26-19 despite a 5-0 from Steve Colley. John Duffy won the Open Darts tournament beating Lee Andrews in the final by 2-1. After successfully managing to complete all 18 boxes Richardo took the Football Predictor with 12 correct forecast results. Monday 21 April The skittles team were the only successful team of the evening when Graham Meadows won his last game 7-6 to give them a one leg victory over the Hare and Hounds, Great Addington. The cribbage team were away at Rushden Windmill and went down by 19-26 despite wins from Steve Colley, Ray Ash and Richard Spencer. The darts team suffered a whitewash by 9-0 against the champions elect from Ise Lodge, Kettering. PUFC took the Football Predictor with an impressive 14 correct forecast results. Monday 14 April The Cribbage team’s winning run continued with a 25-20 win against Higham WMC with wins for Gordon Baxter (4-1) and Kenny Freeman, Richard Spencer, Steve Colley, Stan Cave, Ray Ash, Paul Nicholls (3-2). Callum Henderson took the Football Predictor prize with 11 correct selections from the 18 matches. Thursday 10 April The Summer 4’s Skittle team began their season well with a 2-1 win at The Five Bells, Riseley, in the KO Cup. Monday 7 April The Darts team went down 3-6 away at The Star, Geddington. The Cribbage team won by 28-17 away against British Rail SA with 4-1 wins for Richard Spencer, Kenny Freeman and Gordon Baxter. Steve Colley, Ray Ash, Tim Lawrence and Debbie Howell all won by 3-2. Rob Wise won the Football Predictor on the tie break with 12 correct selections.
